Thanks, Facebook for stifling my political expression and putting a limit on my freedom! And how many groups is too many? I don’t know. Facebook didn’t tell me that in this helpful popup message. I just tripped the secret magic number. When I looked further, I found that I’m a member of 301 groups (joined over a five year period). So the cap is 301? Whatever. I found a group for people in my situation called I Have Joined Too Many Groups, but I couldn’t join it. Because I am a member of too many groups.
In conclusion:
Dear Facebook, I think I’m a member of too many Facebooks. Bite me.Posted via email from baratunde’s internet scratch pad | Comment »
This week, I’m up on Rooftop Comedy as the guest editor. That means that last week, while you were stuffing your face full of innocent bird remains, I was watching a lot of standup comedy, looking for clips to help you laugh off the extra weight you put on by stuffing your face full of innocent bird remains.
All the clips I chose are on the site, but I wanted to offer a bit more as a decent web citizen. Below you’ll find the names of all the comics I picked plus links to them in various places online (here’s a Twitter list with 4 of the 7 comics). Enjoy, and thanks for supported (recorded) live comedy!
- Hannibal Buress: recently joined SNL as a writer & is one of my favorite comics. Myspace; Twitter; YouTube
- Alex Stone: first heard of him via Rooftop. Myspace
- Andy Erikson: first heard of her via Rooftop. Website; Twitter; YouTube; Facebook fan page
- Erin Jackson: met years ago at the Boston Comedy Festival. Website; Facebook fan page; Twitter; Youtube
- Ty Barnett: first heard of him via Rooftop. Website; Wikipedia; YouTube
- Lachlan Patterson: first heard of him via Rooftop. Myspace; Facebook Group; YouTube
- Kumail Nanjiani: first met at DC Comedy Festival. The Comic’s Comic; Twitter; JUST DO THE HEROIN!

Yes THAT RZA of Wu Tang. I’m also a big fan of his Ghost Dog score and will now be listening to RZA tracks all day long. For those who don’t know how Twitter works and thus the significance of this. It means RZA is following me on Twitter. That’s insane. Also his retweet is hilarious. I could retire from Twitter as of this moment. I won’t. But I could. And now for more RZA!
